. Network construction
In the context of the European Space for Higher Education, CIAC will promote the articulation of research goals and the publication of its contents. This will be made preferably through communicational shared media, in networks, over national and international research units, which show interest in cooperating for the definition of leading projects in post-graduate programmes. CIAC shall foster sustainable relationships with existing or future research units. Thus, it guarantees that shared contents will be gradually available in adequate platforms, such as virtual libraries, cinematic contents or databases. This will be accomplished in three stages: assessment of existing units, selection of partners interested in sharing, and adaptation of the contents to the programmes.
. Innovation in new platforms
With the socialization of new information and communication technologies, and their interaction with the arts it aims to study, CIAC will favour media appropriation that represents the new convergence of contents through multimedia platforms. These shall be available to new audiences: researchers; lecturers; students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles; scientific, pedagogical and professional communities; the general public and the industry. CIAC will thus attempt: (1) to promote the product of its research, using all media and languages available in the new platforms of convergence; and (2) to foster the use of new technologies (not just as information archives, but also as triggers in the creation of new artistic and communicational languages).
. Media Literacy
The current communicational and artistic environment has evolved from fragmentation to mixed media, and to new technological multimedia and multi-content platforms. CIAC will promote theoretical as well as applied studies on the modes of appropriation and reception in Media Studies, in the fields of lab experimentation, technological innovation, historiography and the effects of media on society, human communities and individuals. In its projects, particular attention will be given to sustainability and to the relative autonomy of the traditional areas of contents, as well as to their mutation through re-mediation.
. Dramaturgy
The main objective of this area is to create an interpretative mediation, mainly theoretical, but founded on the basis of technical tools and standard procedures in the field of the practical creation of artistic objects. The dramaturgical thought and action is presented as a peculiar sphere of what could be the theoretical and practical dialogue in the domain of the arts: it is a successful example of applied artistic research.
