1st Symposium Communication, Culture and Arts, UALG, 18th April, 2009.
A one day event with CIAC's scholars and international guest speakers to discuss research projects within the three main areas of the centre: theatre, cinema and digital media. These events aim to present and disseminate research projects developed by lecturers, researchers, PhD and post-doctoral researchers of CIAC. They seek to stimulate interdisciplinary debate between the different fields of specialisation researched by the Centre. The 1st and 2nd Arts and Communication Cycles, hosted by Pátio de Letras, Faro, include the launching of books published by the Centre. The first edition included the launch of Nas margens. Ensaios sobre teatro, cinema e meios digitais (On the Fringes, Essays on Drama, Film and Digital Media), organized by Gabriela Borges, and A máquina encravada. A questão do tempo nas relações entre cinema, banda desenhada e contemporaneidade (The Stalled Machine. The Issue of Time in the Relations between Cinema, Cartoons and Contemporaneity), by Bruno Mendes da Silva. The second edition included the launch of Nelson Brissac Peixoto's book Cenários em RuÃnas: A realidade imaginária contemporânea (Ruined Scenarios: The Contemporary Imagined Reality) and the 35th issue of the Comunicar magazine, edited by VÃtor Reia-Baptista.
1st Workshop in Arts Research, UALG, 5th and 6th November, 2010.
CIAC organized the 1st Workshop in Arts Research in collaboration with the EUA/Council for Doctoral Education. The event had the purpose of disseminating research in the field of arts in Portugal and abroad and participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and open new lines of dialogue in the fields of arts and communication studies. The workshop was developed around the following panels: Arts, Science and Technology, Researchers/Creators, Doctoral Schools in Arts (Research and Advanced Learning): from the academic world to the labour market.
Environment, Economy and Society Research Colloquium, UALG, 1st October, 2010.
CIAC promoted the interchange of research with other research centres at the University of Algarve, participating in the colloquium "Environment, Economy and Society Colloquium" promoted by CIMA, CIEO and CIAC.

CIAC Editorial Line
CIAC has a publishing protocol with Editora Gradiva, one of the most prestigious publishing houses in Portugal. This partnership produces the Arts and Media Collection, with the main purpose of revitalizing studies in the fields of artistic manifestations, with particular focus on fields that are related to the media. The collection reflects the spirit of CIAC, which, as a research centre of excellence, seeks to combine artistic creation with studies on arts theory.
CIAC Editions
In 2011, CIAC launches a new editorial line aiming to publish online books to disseminate research carried out by CIAC's members. Books will be available for download at http://www.ciac.pt/publications.php?i=4.
Forthcoming books are: Actas do Encontro Pedagogia do Teatro. Organized by Armando Rosa; "Media literacies in the 21st Century". Organized by VÃtor Reia-Baptista and Gabriela Borges; Televisão: Formas audiovisuais de ficção e documentário. Organized by Gabriela Borges, Renato Pucci and Flávia Seligman. Co-edition CIAC/Socine.
In 2011, CIAC also launches the 1st edition of the online academic journal Verónica. Available at www.revista.ciac.pt.

Cross Media, Mixed Media in NIT and Performative Arts (2009-2012)
Coordinated by Gabriela Borges
A multimedia platform in which art, communication and technology dialogue and provide the results of CIAC's projects of both research groups. This platform must work not only as an information archive, but also as a triggering element in the creation of new artistic and communicational languages.
