Documentaries screening: interviews with film directors

December, 2010
CIAC exhibited two documentaries of interviews with several Portuguese and Mozambican film directors. This event included the first public screening of documentary Cinema Moçambicano: Assim estamos livres, by Bruno Silva and Sílvia Vieira, recently selected for the Luanda Film Festival, and the first Algarve screening of Velhos Amigos (Old Friends), by Michelle Sales, on Portuguese New Cinema film directors.

Beckett at Patio

February, 2010
The national launch of Gabriela Borges' book Samuel Beckett's Televisual Poetics was followed by the presentation of intermedia creation Enframing Beckett based on Samuel Beckett's television plays. The production included a dramatic reading by António Branco of Beckett's Texts For Nothing, locution by Vítor Reia-Baptista, sound effects by Alex Caravela, editing by Olivia Nóvoa, post-production by Bruno Silva and intermedia design by Gabriela Borges.

Workshop "Jazz and Band Communication"

According to the course coordinator, Vítor Reia-Baptista, this initiative seeks to develop arts education and link knowledge fields, such as communication and music, in an innovative and creative way.  The lecturers of the seminar are Jesús Santandreu, Bruno Pedroso, Zé Eduardo, João Moreira dos Santos and Vítor Reia-Baptista. A partnership between CIAC, the Associação Grémio das Músicas and the Department of Communication, Arts and Design of the ESEC/UAlg.

Talk/Debate on Arts Education, Research and Academia in the 21st Century

The Debate on Arts Education, Research and Academia in the 21st Century was hosted by Pátio de Letras Bookstore, with the participation of João Moreira dos Santos (researcher and author of several books on Jazz in Portugal); Vítor Reia-Baptista (director of CAD of the ESEC/UALG); Pedro Ferré (Vice-Rector of UALG) Mirian Tavares (CIAC coordinator) and Zé Eduardo (musician, chairman of the Grémio das Músicas Association).  The Debate followed the Masterclass on Jazz and Communication delivered by João Moreira dos Santos, researcher of the University of Salamanca.

Formas 2010

May, 2010
Second edition of the Performing Arts Fair "Formas 2010".  Event directed to stage and performing arts professional that resulted from a joint organization between Tavira City Council and the Procur.arte Association. It was supported by CIAC, represented by its coordinator, Mirian Tavares, who delivered the conference "Contemporary Creation in the Mediterranean".

Monstra Festival Extension

June, 2010
MONSTRA Festival Extension was organized by Faro Cine-Club with CIAC's support.  The Lisbon Animation Film Festival, MONSTRA, was born in the year 2000.  Its main objective is to widen the scope of action and intervention in the field of animation film and associated arts in Lisbon and throughout the country.  During the MONSTRA extension at Ualg, students had the opportunity to view 10 films from different directors from all over the world. 

Portuguese Guitar Festival

June, 2010
The Portuguese Guitar Festival has for main objectives promoting new dialogues and different contemporary languages and symbologies and opening possibilities of dialogue between the past and the evolution of the Portuguese Guitar. As such, the event joined several performing and plastic arts with new reinterpretations and symbolic dialogues around the Portuguese Guitar and used its sonority as a background to rediscover art. The Festival put artists and guitar makers in dialogue with the audience and offered the following activities: Cycle of Concerts: Portuguese Guitar with Great Masters, Exhibition: Portuguese Guitar with Future, Activity: Joining hands for the Portuguese Guitar, Activity: Guitars in Tertulia, Training activity: "I learn Portuguese Guitar". It took place in Teatro Lethes, Faro, from 10th to 13th June.

DOCKANEMA 2010

September, 2010
The researchers Bruno Silva e Sílvia Vieira represented CIAC at the 5th edition of DOCKANEMA, Festival of Documentary Film, Maputo, Mozambique. At the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Bruno Silva e Sílvia Vieira participated in the panel "Apontamentos para uma cinematografia moçambicana" and presented the film "Cinema Moçambicano (1975-2010) - Assim estamos livres".

"A Voz do Cidadão" at Ualg, 2011

RTP ombudsman, José Manuel Paquete de Oliveira, was at the University of Algarve to exhibit one emission of the TV programme A Voz do Cidadão. He discussed with CIAC's members issues related to the representativity of Algarve in RTP news.
